Problem Note 66835: The IMPORT procedure generates extra lines that begin with "dqstring=" and "fmt=" in the SAS® log beginning in SAS® 9.4M7 (TS1M7)
Beginning in SAS 9.4M7, PROC IMPORT produces extra lines in the SAS log. These extra lines are the result of an invalid value that is encountered and which conflicts with the assigned type (character or numeric) based on the default GUESSINGROWS= value or the specified GUESSINGROWS= value.
For example, you use the default value of 20 for the GUESSINGROWS= statement, and you have three records in the external file in which the letter S was typed instead of the number 5. The variable is then typed as character. However, extra lines that begin with “dqstring=” and “fmt=” are written to the SAS log. Here is an example of a SAS log that contains the extra lines:
984 proc import datafile='c:\temp\class.csv' out=class dbms=csv replace;
985 run;
dqstring=111.S
fmt=
dqstring=50.S
fmt=
dqstring=8S
fmt=
